Nicole Winberry, former math teacher at Osceola High School in Osceola, AR has been sentenced to 10 years of probation for one count of sexual assault after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. Winberry, who was 28 years old at the time of the alleged incident in late 2013, was arrested in January 2014 and originally charged with four counts of sexual assault stemming from allegations that she had sex with at least one, but up to three students at the school.
Winberry was also a math teacher at Paragould High School in Paragould, AR, but resigned shortly before becoming employed at Osceola High School. The details of her previous resignation were not made public. After being arrested, she resigned from her teaching position at Osceola High School.
Rumors of a student or students having an ongoing sexual relationship with a teacher led to an investigation which uncovered text messages on one students phone from Winberry, which showed that there was some misconduct going on between her and the student. The three students that claim they had sex with Winberry were 17 and two of them 18 year old boys at the time of the incidents.
Winberry pleaded guilty to one count of felony sexual assault and received ten years of probation as well as sex offender registration, and surrendering her teaching credentials.
